Celebrating the raw allure and timeless beauty of iconic machines,
I render the reflective surfaces of classic vehicles with intimate realism. My work explores the tension between nostalgia and presence—each piece a meditation on time, craftsmanship, and emotional connotations.
These vintage icons are more than mechanical marvels—they’re cherished relics, rich with meaning. My passion for classic vehicles, deeply rooted in my family's generations in the automotive industry and inspired by my father's own loving restorations, informs both my subject matter and my process.
Using a unique watercolor process, I layer transparent watercolor and gouache over graphite to achieve luminous, richly saturated works on paper. Although watercolor is traditionally associated with looseness and spontaneity, I approach it with the same control and precision the Photorealists applied to oil and acrylic. Like them, I use photographs as a starting point to render the details that cannot be seen with the unaided eye. I reinterpret these images, however, through the softness and transparency that watercolor uniquely offers. This balance—between tight control and the medium’s natural fluidity—is what fascinates and motivates me.
My compositions are intentionally minimal, focusing on the vehicle’s form and finish while leaving time and place undefined—inviting a sense of solitude, wanderlust, and quiet reverence. At its core, my work is a statement on time: the enduring beauty of a long-lost era, the solitary admiration of these iconic machines, and the slow, immersive journey of painting them.
